Hello Readers,
About four years ago my brother who has a passion for studying and immersing himself into different cultures turned me on to World Music. World Music if your racking your brain is defined by the Encyclopedia Britannica as a musical genre incorporating diverse styles from Africa, eastern Europe, Asia, South and Central America, the Caribbean, and non mainstream Western folk sources.
It was love at first listen. In my quest to start a world music collection of my own I started the 4 block trek to Virgin Records. On arrival, i asked one of there staff if they had a world music section. Well they did and it was a lot bigger than i expected. I was LOST. Not knowing where to begin, i deciding i would just look around to something felt right. Finally I hit the Putumayo World Collection. They made picking out world music so simple. All that was left to do was to choose a country or a region. I selected a few. I got them home imported them into my computer and was amazed. Its been a international love affair ever since.
Fast forward to the present.
I'm working at the most hip children's boutique around, and what do i see staring me in the face, you guessed Putumayo for Kids.
I knew we were meant to be. Check it out
