Gennaro wants our son in organic clothing with flowers, not gas guzzling cars......

I took home a really cute Smafolk onesie with this car design on it....I thought it was cute & "boyish". So I showed it to Gennaro & he hated it. He wanted something more "green" as in environmentally correct and maybe with flowers... He said boys can wear flowers and that basically I should not be forcing cars onto him. I said we drive a car & boys like cars. He said well they also like flowers...

Calvin and Hobbes Makes the World Go Round

I am a big C&H fan. I think this is a perfect way to wrap up a Monday, don't you?

J Schatz egg lights....the item no one knows we sell!

These J Schatz egg lights are amazing.... we have 2 at the 5th ave. store. No one knows we sell them, what they are, etc.... Why you wonder??? Well they are really hard to display and we do not have a dark room to turn them on in. I guess a photo like here would be good.. They are also really fragile. Too bad, because they are so nice!

Blog-O-Rama

Hola Area-Cadettes. I'm taking a break from organizing our 5th ave sales section (horrors!) to check in on our lovely blog. We have big plans for this blog! The dream is, of course, to one day take over the world, but in the meantime we'll settle for widespread international fame. It helps that we have such cute things to blog about - Monchichis, anyone? The latest plan, according to the Big Cahoona herself, is to start bringing digital cameras with us to work and offering to take pictures of our lovely customers. This way we can digitally record what's selling well AND spread the fame around a bit. We can hang signs around the stores - "Check out our Area Kids Blog! You never know, you may find yourself there!"

So staffers, if you have cameras and any photography skills whatsoever, show them off on our blog! Today the blogosphere, tomorrow the world!

Happy Un-Birthday!!!!!

So i was just refolding some shirts when i came across the (very cute) Alice and wonderland glow-in-the-dark tee and i remembered that today is my un-birthday! Happy un- birthday to me! And if today is your un-birthday, Happy Un-Birthday to You!

Area "Boys" Petition

Every time I go shopping with my best friend, he always gets annoyed by how many more options for girls there are over that for boys. I always joked that no one cared about boys and it's completely a woman's world. As true as this may be, Area Kids needs more of a selection of boys clothing. Yes we do have quite a varied selection of Tea, Altru and Junk Foods items, but Area really does need to start catering to the little 'fashionistos' that dare to be just as cute as their female counterparts. I felt so badly for a customer this morning, who is about ready to pop with her first child - A BOY! She complained that it was so hard to find clothing for her little munchkin. Although I helped her pick out the cute, blue striped Splendid polo, a few Appaman shirts and Dr.Seuss onesies, she still hoped to find more. I promised her that I will try to do my very best to help get more clothing for boys at Area Kids, and I hope this won't be a hard feat. So, I hereby start an Area BOYS clothing petition, and I hope I don't get fired for this blog.
O:-)

Court St. is now connected! // Giant Robot

eStead here, reporting to you from Court Street! That's right, we now have internet over here. Woo! Now I can post just as much as my fellow bloggers. Sorry for the lack of posts, but without having internet here (until now) and connection problems at home, I have been feeling very disconnected! With that being said, let's get things rolling!

I loved Jesselyn's "An Area Girl's Guide to..". I feel that it depicted everyone appropriately (at least for who I've met) and since she mentioned my love for Kid Robot, I wanted to share what I picked up over the weekend! I came across a store called Giant Robot (which has actually been around since the 90's) and picked up a few unnecessary, yet adorable goodies to add to my collection.

Do you think that's a Gerbil or a Guinea Pig? Whatever it is, it was too cute to resist. As for the Milk, the packaging is so cute that I don't want to open it! I thought the Instant Cup of Flowers mimicks a cup of noodles pretty well, with the nutrition facts and all! I could definitely see these items selling well at Area Kids! Hint, hint.. ;)

Well, time to fold the Brooklyn onesies. Have a great rest of the day!

A Lesson Learned?

Last Tuesday I arrived late for my psychology class, so as punishment the whole class is subjected to celebrating "Male Appreciation Day" tomorrow. (No offense, Jeff! You're awesome.) Fortunately for the men in my class, and my wallet, I happen to work at this excellent store that has toys for boys of all ages!! Here's what the three boys in my class are getting:

The UK Suck Save bank is for a guy in my class who scares me.

The Woodstock Harmonica is for a guy in my class who reminds me of Bob Dylan. He probably doesn't even play the harmonica, or like Bob Dylan, but that's besides the point.

And the Accoutrements Lil' Devils Trick of the Day kit is for my tricky professor, who uses my lateness as an excuse to get presents. Oh, psychologists!

Audra Rox concert was fun! The paparazzi got us there!

We had no idea the paparazzi was following us! I thought they were busy with Angelina & clan.......but I don't blame them...we are just as interesting as you can tell!!
