Off to WALMART.........it is only a 3 min. drive!

So as everyone in my life knows......I am in Nebraska. Land of Walmart! It is quite scary as going to Walmart is the shopping experience of experiences if you are not used to it....It is very strange as in my Brooklyn world that I normally inhabit, it is as opposite of Walmart as anything can be almost...Small stores, a small staff, unique items, higher prices.. I get overwhelmed in places like Walmart. I can not even walk in a Whole Foods without having my mouth open with a shocked look on my face...I rarely leave Carroll Gardens & Park Slope...My big outing is to Williamsburg to visit AREA Kids there........

God forbid, sex toys selling FAST in park slope.

So for my first blog post in FOREVER, I figure it should be something exciting.....Today in NY Observer they wrote about AREA Kids neighboring store BABELAND and all the controversy surrounding a sex shop in a family neighborhood. They even have a changing station for parents to change diapers in a sex shop! The article is here.. http://www.observer.com/2008/real-estate/i-shocker-i-park-slope-loves-its-sex-toys

It think it is hilarious how some people are so upset by this! How in the hell do you get babies without SEX? I think it goes hand in hand....within 1 block we have a toy store, a kids clothing/toy store(AREA Kids), a maternity store & a sex toy shop! Fortunately Babeland is super stylish & owned by women business owners! So that is cool...!

Aren't these the cutest Converse sneakers ever!!!!

These are absolutely adorable. They're called "First Star Sneakers" made by my favouritest sneaker brand - Converse. They're $98 but they would make a lovely baby's first pair. They are studded with cool crystals for a little baby bling bling. These are too cool for school. Corny but I said it!

(one of) my favorite toy(s)

The amazing Melissa and Doug Fold & Go Barn. Allows your child to imagine the long-lost days of family farms and humane/hygienic treatment of livestock! Comes complete with imaginary crops which may or may not include corn (it's all up to you--no government subsidies!)Bio-engineering, antiobiotics, hormones, pesticides, not on this farmstead. And best of all, maximum portability allows for speedy relocation when the soil has been completely depleted. Kids love it. I mourn it. Seriously though it's a really great toy, and nowhere near as heavy as this post.

my favorite word

Mamihlapinatapai(sometimes spelled mamihlapinatapei) is a word from the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego, listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the "most succinct word", and is considered one of the hardest words to translate.[1] It describes a look shared by two people with each wishing that the other will initiate something that both desire but which neither one wants to start. This could perhaps be translated more succinctly as "eye-contact implying 'after you...'". A more literal approximation is "ending up mutually at a loss as to what to do about each other".

which will shortly be tattooed down the back of my calf in a row of typewriter keys resembling a stocking inseam. no one will be excited about this but me.

Things I wish I were Doing Instead...

Just a set of pictures from home - Trinidad and Tobago - of things I'd rather be doing, eating or places I'd rather be right now.

good omens

Is the unexpected appearance of birds in an unexpected place a good omen or bad omen? I'm hoping good, because I just found a poor deceased bird in a hidden corner of the basement over here at AREA play. It must have gotten in through those in between building cracks or something... What does this mean for my maine "vacation" (freelance recording work)???

It wasn't a crow, which would be a bad sign most likely. It was smallish like the pic above, but not a sparrow. For my own piece of mind, I'm calling it a good omen.

What a Beautiful Day.

Isn't.
I love days like this.
I feel like the fall is almost here.
Perfect day to walk around and shop at AREA KIDS.
Come come Moms sale stuff and new stuff over here.

MOBY WRAP.

Look how comfortable the baby looks.
I heard it is a great carrier and make you feel very close to the baby.
It comes in many different colors and its price is great!
